Upon being informed that RTS Consultancy had need for acoustic treatment for a bespoke media space the team set to work going through the quotation process to ensure the project was tailored specifically to the needs of the client. RTS wanted a curved green screen to be built in front of our acoustic soundproof wall system followed by soundproof panels to reduce echo within the area being fitted to the ceiling and wall areas.
A team was sent onsite to inspect the area and give feedback to the client followed by a detailed quotation and then schedule of works. The team were also able advise how to construct the green screen as they had completed a similar project for the University of South Wales.
We provided an independent wall system which typically steps off the existing area by 30mm to allow the trapping of frequencies. This alone reduced sound transmission greatly, we then went on to provide a soundproof ceiling system to then create a “room within a room`` solution. We also liaised with an air conditioning company to provide a seamless project service. The mounting of the air conditioning units went as planned and provide a steady flow of fresh air into the studio without creating a weak point for sound to penetrate.
After arranging for the install of the air conditioning units the next step was to install the acoustic reverberation panels to the wall areas. This greatly improved the sound quality within the room to allow for audio recording to be received to the high standards that is required. The walls and ceiling systems were then decorated with complimenting white and grey matte trade paint. Leaving the client satisfied with a perfect finish for filming and video editing.
The soundproof wall and ceiling system used is Approved document-E complaint – “resistant to the passage of sound” This system reduces sound by an average of 24DB, which is 50- 75% perceived reduction to the human ear and a 99.61% SPL reduction.
